Sulphur crested cockatoos are one of my favourite birds of Australia. They typically travel in raucous packs like cheeky teenagers aiming to prove themselves. They have passive soaring wings which are long, broad and end in extensive primary feathers with wide gaps to take advantage of columns of rising hot air, allowing them to soar without reliable wind currents and thereby get away quickly when the party gets out of control.
