'Coming Up For Air' was made while based in Japan in 2023, after intensively chasing the sea of pink that is Hanami (花見) (cherry blossom viewing) from Kyoto to Tokyo. Sakura is a much cherished and highly significant flower that marks spring, renewal, and the fleeting nature of life which the Japanese have a profound and reverential appreciation for. Sakura is consumed in rice balls, cookies, tea and special liqueurs, but my favourite is fresh sakura mochi, which is just about the most divine thing ever concocted.
This limited edition Giclée print, based on an original art work, is printed on Hahnemühle Cotton Rag paper and is available in A1 size, measuring 84.1 cm x 59.4 cm with a white border of 1 cm. Pictured in situ is the A1 size.
